A professional additional light equipment intended for cars with CAN-controlled headlights. Modernum Digital Lightning 1200 contains a control unit together with a secured cabling including DT connector for easy connection to LED ramp or other additional light. The box detects the digital signals and supplies power to retrofitted additional lights. Modernum Digital Lightning works on several modern cars incl. for example. new Volvo XC40, XC60, S90, S90L, V90CC and XC90 with active LED headlights.

Especially adapted to the vehicle's adaptive light for glare reduction, the Digital Lightning 1200 is the optimal additional light equipment for the user in need of a multi-competent and affordable product. The kit also includes a DT connector for easy connection to LED ramps or other auxiliary lights. In addition to being intended for CAN-controlled headlights, the Digital Lightning 1200 also supports automatic high beam functions, when these are activated in the car.

Due to its design, Digital Lightning 1200 is always up-to-date. Unlike the predecessor Digital Lightning 1150, the software is easily downloaded from the manufacturer's website, which means that CAN codes for future cars will fit the product already sold today.

Quick guide

To find out if you need Digital Lightning 1200, you need to know which car model you have, as well as which light package it is equipped with. Once you've figured that out, you can consult this table to figure out which wires to connect the relay kit to. Once you have found out which car model and which light package you have, as well as connecting the relay kit to the correct cables, the control unit needs to be programmed with the right software for your particular car.

Here's how to download the software:

1. Connect the USB stick to the computer. Make sure the USB stick is completely empty before you start downloading the software.
2. Go to Modernum's website , page "Extra light wiring".
3. Click on "Download software DL 1200" and a new window will open.
4. In the drop-down menu under "Find your file" you select car make, car model, model year and light package.
5. Download the file to your computer (usually ends up in the "Downloads" folder)
6. Open the zipped folder. Then move or copy over the candy.txt file to the USB stick.

Here's how to program the controller:

1. Make sure that the control unit is energized, i.e. connected to +12 or +24V.
2. Remove the cover on the controller's USB input.
3. Connect the USB stick with the candy.txt file to the controller.
4. The control unit will now be programmed automatically. When the yellow LED on the controller goes out (takes about 5 seconds), everything is ready and you can remove the USB stick.
5. Replace the cover on the USB input on the controller to protect it from dirt.
6. Now everything is ready - check that the auxiliary lights turn on and off when you switch the main beam on and off.

The USB stick can only store software for one car model at a time. For workshops that handle a large number of cars of the same model, it is advantageous, because then you don't have to download the software again for each car and can instead use the same USB stick for all cars of a certain model. If you change your car and want to bring additional lights and wiring to the new car, you can easily download new software from the website. The previous software is then overwritten.
